The Ambassador of the United States of America His Excellency James R. Kieth was in Kuching from 20th to 24th Feb 2008 for a familiarisation visit. During his staying in Kuching, his Excellency was taking the opportunity to meet and had a roundtable talk with NGOs, Press and Government Agencies.
He was accompanied by Mr. Daniel P Claffey a Public Affair officer and Mr. Riaz Urrahman Sadayan a Program Specialist from the Embassy office in Kuala Lumpur. While in Kuching, Apaienduq was appointed as his Liaison Officer by the Protocol Unit of the State Government.
His Excellency entourage was joined by his family on the evening of 21th Feb 2008. On the 1st day, of his first visit was to the Anglican Archbishop Right Reverend Bolly Lapok before he proceed to the Borneo Post to meet Mr Jimmy Adit, its chief editor. In the afternoon His Excellency met with invited NGOs for the roundtable talk. His roundtable talk with NGOs was organised by AZAM at the State Library. After the roundtable table His Excellency proceed to another function, to officially launched one of the 5 Lincoln Corner in Malaysia, one at the State Library. The Lincoln Corner was sponsored by the American Embassy Office. The other 4 Lincoln Corner in Malaysia were in KL, Trengganu, Penang and Sabah.
His Excellency paid a visit to the Director of State Planning Unit where he was briefed on the History and the Development of the State before His Excellency joined YB Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot, State Secretary for a private lunch at Holiday Inn Kuching.
