KUCHING: The Third Borneo Dayak Cultural Heritage Safari (BDCHS) will see Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) members visiting Sanggau, Sintang, Landak, Singkawang and Pontianak in West Kalimantan tentatively between Nov 27 and Dec 4.

The entourage will go by land through Tebedu Serian.

“The BDCHS is yet another SDNU’s major activity in collaboration with Ministry of Social Development of Sarawak as requested by the Senior Minister YB Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom. The BDCHS is within the G to G cooperation or SOSEK MALINDO framework,” SDNU vice-president Anthony Banyan said through a press statement yesterday.

“SDNU actively promotes unity. This year alone a number of activities were organised and planned in line to assist the government to promote unity among members and friends throughout the state,” he added.

SDNU expects this year’s safari to be grander with the inclusion of members of Dewan Adat Dayak Kalimantan.

As part of the event and community service, the organising committee would like to distribute something to the communities and villagers where the Safari stops overnight.

“Therefore we would like to appeal to the business communities, companies, public and friends to donate/sponsor or contribute something like packed foods and drinks that we can distribute to the community or villagers,” he explained.

During the second Safari 2010, the organising committee really appreciated the strong support and contribution from Grand Continuance Sdn Bhd, Bright Unigold Sdn Bhd, Mastika Jaya Sdn Bhd, Nestle (Kuching) and Inomedia Industries Sdn Bhd.

The organising committee for this year’s third BDCHS would like to sincerely thank Mawan for his undivided support, advice, suggestions and commitment on behalf of his Ministry of Social Development Sarawak to make this annual Safari a success, Anthony said.

Participation fee is RM950 per head which cover lodging, food, car insurance and road tax, souvenirs, T-shirts and administrative cost, he pointed out.

Those who are interested to join are advised to confirm their participation on or before Nov 15 at SDNU Secretariat, call 082-570433 or contact Spencer Birai at 010-8320433.
